History

2006-2010

After finishing third in the NFL Second Division in 2006, HAL S.C. were promoted to the Premier Division. Although only the top two teams from the Second Division gain promotion but Tata Football Academy who finished first in the standings were not able to form a professional team for the Premier Division. Therefore HAL S.C. were promoted to the 11th NFL Premier Division along with runners up Churchill Brothers S.C..

2010-Present

HAL SC qualified for I-League 2010-11 Season after finishing second in 2010 I-League 2nd Division. They were the second South Indian team in I-League after Viva Kerala. [2] In the last match of the season they defeated defending champions Dempo S.C. 4-2 to starve off relegation to I-League 2nd Division, with Xavier Vijay Kumar scoring two goals.

Crest

The HAL SC crest is different to the crest that the company that owns them, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, uses. For instance the Hindustan Company logo has a picture of the earth with a plane going around and has the word HAL written as well as the Hindi way of writing HAL while the Sports Club HAL SC just has a crest with the word HAL in green letters.

Colors

HAL's official colors are green and white. The Home jersey is, as of the 2011-12 season, green and white. Green for the shirts and socks and white for the shorts. The away jersey is all white. Usually HAL's home jersey would be all green.

Stadium

HAL S.C. have been using the Bangalore Football Stadium since there beginning in 2006. [3]

Ownership and Finances

The ownership of HAL SC is from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The company HAL were originally not so influential when running the club at first, as shown from there poor record before the 2010 I-League 2nd Division season in which the club got promotion. After promotion the company began doing a little more in the club. The first thing they did and are still doing is making the club a professional one by filling out the AFC Club Criteria.
